Tall, talented Sewickley ends Falcons season
      Coudersport’s boys came up against one of the state’s best Class A high school basketball teams, right in its back yard Friday night, with predictable results. Sewickley Academy jumped out to 21-point halftime lead on its way to a 67-37 win at North Hills High School in Pittsburgh, ending the Falcons’ season with a 17-10 record.

Lippert to play in Raabe Classic
      Cameron County High School’s Andy Lippert has been selected to participate in the 37th annual Don Raabe Big 30 Charities Football Classic. The game will be held at 7 pm on Aug. 7 at Bradford High School’s Parkway Field.

Cowburn falls short of third state title
      Coudersport’s Dirk Cowburn closed out a historic high school wrestling career with a silver medal in last weekend’s state championship meet at Hershey.

Farrell grounds Falcon girls
      A challenging but successful high school basketball season for the Coudersport girls came to a close Saturday afternoon at Slippery Rock University, as Farrell delivered a 73-31 knockout punch in the first round of state playoffs. Coudersport (19-8) was getting open shots, but could not convert. The Falcons were unable to do much on the offensive boards.

Crumrine is defending bowling champ
      A young bowler with local roots is making a name for himself in a multi-state competitive circuit. Kyle Crumrine, the son of Tim and Peggy Crumrine and the grandson of Dave and Cindy Crumrine, rolled a stellar 204 game to topple the previous champion, Aaron Cressley, who rolled a 201, during a Keystone Junior Bowlers Tour tournament on Feb. 28 in Butler.

Hoop Club sponsoring tournament
      Cameron County Red Raider Hoop Club will sponsor its annual Three On Three Basketball Tournament on Saturday, March 27, in the high school gym. Teams may consist of up to four players, with three on the floor at any given time.

Hot bowling hand for Al Lyon
      Sometimes a bowler gets in a groove and there’s holding him back. Such was the case with Al Lyon during competition at Mountain View Bowling Center. He appeared on the honor roll in multiple leagues. Recent results are as follows: Friday Night Mixed: Alley Stompers 70-34, Lucky Strikes 56-48, Middle of the Road Gang 54-50, Misfits 28-76. Top scores: B. Foster 221-629.
