Potter County establishes training position for DES
      Potter County Department of Emergency Services (DES) is stepping up its support of fire departments, ambulance services and other responders across the county.

Mixed verdict in drug cultivation case
      Potter County jurors convicted a former Allegany Township man of misdemeanor drug charges, but found him not guilty of felony counts stemming from marijuana plants found on his property. Gary W. Wright, 56, now of Galeton, will be sentenced later for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Partnering to repair courthouse gazebo
      A plan to refurbish the gazebo at the courthouse square is moving forward through a partnership between the Potter County Commissioners and the structure’s custodian, New Century Club of Coudersport. NCC has been working to raise the funding needed for new roofing, ceiling work, electrical service and other repairs.

Austin Fall Festival planned Sept. 26
      Austin Communities That Care will host its 11th annual Fall Festival on Sunday, Sept. 26 from on the town square. A parade sponsored by the Boy Scouts will kick off at 11:30 am, followed by quarter bingo at 12:30 pm, pet parade at 1 and the bed races at 3.

Plans in place for Falling Leaves Festival
      Plans have been announced for the annual Potter County Falling Leaves Festival. It will be held Friday through Sunday, Oct. 1-3, at the courthouse square, sponsored by the Coudersport Area Chamber of Commerce. Hours will be 4-7 pm Friday, 9 am to 7 pm Saturday, and noon to 4 pm Sunday, with an ecumenical worship service at 10 am Sunday.

Austin golfers notch two victories
      Pennsylvania’s smallest public school district is fielding a competitive boys’ golf team this season. Austin scored wins over host Cameron County and Port Allegany in a threeteam match on Monday. The Panthers were led by Cade Logue, whose 42 was slightly better than solid rounds by Tye Dynda (43), Bryan Brooks (43), Kal Logue (44) and Billy Ripple (49).
