Criminal cases heard in Potter County Court
      Several criminal cases were recently heard in Potter County Court. Michael J. Lisek, 36, formerly of Coudersport, was re-sentenced to 11 1/2 to 23 months in the Potter County Jail on sexual assault charges involving a teenaged girl.

New law office opens in Coudersport
      Guerline Ladouceur-Laurore has opened a law office in Coudersport, taking over the East Second Street office space formerly occupied by attorney Robert Kuhl. She is specializing in family law, divorce, custody, child support, paternity, adoption and domestic relations cases, as well as estate planning, probate, guardianship and real estate.

School board will refund repairs to baseball field
      Coudersport Area School Board members this week approved funds for repairs to the baseball field at Coudersport Area Recreation Park, although members expressed hope that a solution can be found to prevent a similar expenditure in the future.

Acting superintendent has his hands full
      Coudersport School District’s acting superintendent will have a full plate during his few months in the district. In addition to selecting a new superintendent of schools, a 2010-2011 operating budget must be finalized by June 30, a teachers’ union contract must be negotiated, and a new business manager must be brought up to speed.

      Help is available for anyone who has questions or concerns about the 2010 U. S. Census forms. Five free workshops will be held at Potter County Human Services in Roulette. There’s also a Questionnaire Assistance Center, available toll-free at 1-866-872- 6868.

Gas company wants millions of gallons of water
      Penn Virginia Oil and Gas Corp. is seeking approval to withdraw up to 4 million gallons of water per day from public water for a natural gas well on the Kibbe property in Harrison Township, Potter County. Approval of the Susquehanna River Basin Commission is required. The SRBC is seeking public comments on the plan at 717-238-0423, extension 219.
