Cowburn wins in Hershey; Bova, Bardo fall
      Dirk Cowburn punched another ticket to Hershey last weekend and started out on fire. In the first round of the PIAA State Wrestling Championships, the 160- pound senior pinned Cody Breiner of Fleetwood as he began his pursuit of another state Class AA title.

Falcon boys draw powerhouse Sewickley in state playoffs
      Coudersport’s boys had the unenviable task of taking on powerhouse Sewickley Academy (22-2) in the first round of the 32-team PIAA State Basketball Championship Tournament Friday night. Results were not available by press time.

      After sluggish first quarter, Coudersport’s girls came to life and easily defeated Otto- Eldred, 60-37, in last weekend’s consolation game of the PIAA District 9 basketball tournament.

Young Raider girls win tourney
      A group of fifth-grade girls from Cameron County School District won their division championship during the recent Bradford Youth Basketball League Tournament. The Cameron Crazies scored wins over Port Allegany and Bradford, then edged the same Bradford team in the finals.

JO wrestling Saturday
      Dozens of young wrestlers will be in Emporium on Saturday (today) for the Junior Olympic Sectional Tournament. Boys and girls who are considering participation in wrestling next season are especially invited to attend as spectators. Wrestling on Saturday is expected to begin at about 10 am.

Jr. high boys now 5-1
      Coudersport improved to 5-1 in junior high boys’ basketball by rolling over visiting Otto-Eldred Monday, 38-5, in a game that saw plenty of playing time for the Falcons’ reserves. Ethan Hite scored 12 points, while Aaron VanSickles tallied eight for Coudersport.

Giannotti fourth in state
      Coudersport High School senior Emily Giannotti placed fourth against a highly competitive field in the 3000-meter run at the Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association State Indoor Championships, held at the indoor facility at Penn State.

Baseball, softball sign-upus
      Coudersport baseball and softball registration will be held March 16-17 from 6-8pm at the Elementary School cafeteria. Cost is $25 per child or $40 per family.

Young wrestler dominant
      A young wrestler in the Coudersport Area School District should fit nicely into the varsity picture in the coming years. Kyle Bova recently closed out an undefeated junior high season, posting a record of 26-0 with 23 pins at 110 pounds. He was 37-1 in his first junior high season.
