Regional State Police Report An armed robbery Wednesday night in downtown St. Marys remains under investigation by city police. A male estimated between 18 and 24 years old entered the Downtown Keystone Service Station on North Michael Street at about 10:00, brandishing a knife and demanding cash. The thief was wearing rag covering most of his face. The attendant removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and turned it over to the man, who fled on foot. Police described the subject as about five-foot-10, weighing between 175 and 185 pounds, with a medium build and dark-colored hair. State police at Emporium are continuing their investigation into a burglary and a separate attempted burglary at adjacent properties along Rt. 155 last Thursday night or Friday morning. Thieves broke a 20" x 12" window to gain entry into the Pit Stop and removed cash, while causing $40 in damage. They were unsuccessful in entering Cool's Garage in the same building, but caused $15 in damage. A 17-year-old Cameron County driver is facing charges in connection with a hit and run episode. Troopers from the state police barracks in Emporium said the youth was driving a 1995 Chevy Geo Tracker that traveled off May Hollow Road and damaged a utility support cable. The driver, whose name was not released by police, left the scene without notifying authorities. The theft of about 3,000 feet of plastic-coated copper wire belonging to the Buffalo Pittsburgh Railroad is being probed by state police at Kane. The wire was taken from poles adjacent to the Lindholm Road, from Mt. Jewett north through Hamlin Township, sometime between last Thursday and Saturday. The wire is valued at $15,000. State police at Kane are also probing the theft of some golf clubs at the Pine Acres Country Club in Lafayette Township between June 18 and June 21. Thieves took a men's driver and a women's driver, both with Cobra brand, from a golf cart owned by Timothy Petitt of Bradford. The clubs are valued at a total of $800. Christopher Richar, 20, of Gaines is facing charges of failing to give immediate notice of a crash to police. Troopers say his 1973 Jeep went off ofthe Butternut Road in West Branch Township in Potter County, rolled over and sheared off a tree early Thursday morning. A Warren driver is being charged with driving at an unsafe speed following a crash Wednesday evening on Route 6 near Ludlow. Kane-based state police say 24-year-old Nicole Watson was headed east at a high rate of speed when her Hyundai crossed the highway while rounding a curve. When Watson swerved back into her own lane, the vehicle spun off the road, struck a curb, and rolled over before coming to rest against a building on property owned by Margaret Fox. Watson suffered minor injuries. |
