Edward Gerbec

Edward Andrew Gerbec, 75, of Warren, died Friday (June 30, 2006) at the Veterans Hospital, Buffalo, N.Y.

Born June 9, 1931, in Kinzua, he was the son of the late Andrew and Frances K. Ulyan Gerbec.

Mr. Gerbec served in the U.S. Army Military Police during the Korean War. He had been employed by the Pennsylvania railroad as a conductor and breakman for most of his life, retiring in 1988.

He was a former member of the Clarendon VFW.

He is survived by two daughters, Valerie Werstler of Austin and Veronica Lukaschunis of Emporium; a son, Vaughn Gerbec of Emporium; two brothers, Rudy Gerbec and Andy "Chip" Gerbec of Clarendon; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., Warren, on Monday (July 3) with the Rev. James Eastman, pastor of the Abundant Life Tabernacle of Emporium, officiating. Members of the Clarendon and Sheffield VFW presented full military honors.

Burial was in the St. Callistus Cemetery, Kane.
