Robert M. Housler, 78, of Waldy Run Road, Emporium, died on July 17, 2006.
Born on Feb. 27, 1929 in Buffalo, New York, he was a son of late Merlin and Lettie Balliet Housler. On July 5, 1953 in Emporium he married Shirley Jean Johnson Housler, who survives.
Mr. Housler served with the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Okinowa. He received the Korean Service Metal with five Bronze Stars and the United Nations Service Metal.
He retired from Shippen Township where he has served as Township supervisor and as roadmaster for several years. He was a member of the VFW Miller-Raffaele Post 6221, Emporium.
In addition to Shirley Jean Johnson Housler, he is survived by two sons: Daniel R. Housler (Becky) of Wellsboro, PA. and Douglas Housler (Debbie) of Emporium; two daughters: R. Sue (James Buerk) of Smethport and Pamela (Robert Castillo) of Emporium; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers: Wesley Housler of Alamogorda, NM and Arthur Housler of Seattle, WA and three sisters: Helen (Donald Hefright) of Emporium, Irene Judd of Bethel Park, PA and Carol Burns, of Emporium.
He was preceded in death by his parents Merlin and Lettie Balliet Housler and two brothers: William and Edward Housler.
The funeral service was held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium PA. on Thursday with Rev. James Eastman, officiating. Military honors were accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail. Burial was at the Rich Valley Cemetery, Emporium, PA.
Veronica Singer
Veronica M. Singer, 99, of 185 Center St., Elk Towers, St. Marys, formerly of 333 Benedict Street. St. Marys, died Tuesday (July 11, 2006) at Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys.
Born May 30, 1907 in Kersey, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary Couse Emmert. On Feb. 28, 1928 in St. Boniface Church, she married the late George M. Singer.
Mrs. Singer was a graduate of Kersey High School and the YMCA Business School of Youngstown, OH. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, St. Ann's Society, the Altar Society of St. Marys Church and the St. Marys Senior Center. Mrs. Singer had worked for the Silk Mill in Ridgway and later worked for the family of Bill Parson.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Wortman of St. Marys; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Genevieve Munro of DuBois.
In addition to her parents and husband, who died Dec. 17, 1960, she was preceded in death by a son, George M. Singer Jr. and a sister, Josephine Sweze.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday (July 14) at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Marys. Burial was in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Kindblom
Genevieve Augusta Kindblom, 97, of Emporium, died Friday (July 14, 2006) in Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys.
Born Jan. 22, 1909, on a small farm just outside of DuBois, she was a daughter of the late John and Jennie Swenson Peterson, originally of Holland, Sweden, and sibling to 12 brothers and sisters. In January of 1933, she married Oscar Karl Kindblom, who immigrated to the United States through Boston from Gislaved, Sweden. He passed away April, 26, 1957.
She settled in Emporium after her marriage, where she raised two daughters, was active in the community and maintained strong ties to her close-knit family. She worked a number of years for Sylvania Electronic Products and also enjoyed sharing her culinary skills in the kitchen of the Sylvania club.
Following her husband's death, she lived in Bergenfield, NJ, before returning to Emporium, where she was employed by Robert Taylor, president of Emporium Trust Co., until his death.
A founding member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a member of The General Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, she led a very active life and was a caring and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1057; a daughter, Betty (William) Coleman in 1990; and 12 siblings.
Surviving are her loving daughter, Bertyl Emmett of Emporium; grandchildren, Dave Karen, Cass, John, Debbie, Bill and Susan; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday and the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel in DuBois with the Rev. Bruce J. Burkness presiding, and where her family and friends remembered her for her great faith, sage advice and unconditional love. Committal services and burial followed in Morningside Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
