Girls Planning 'Project Pink'Walk For Cancer

Three girls from the graduating class of 2006 from the Austin Area School are hosting a non-competitive walk to help raise awareness for Breast Cancer in our community.

The walk will be on, Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Austin Area School. Walk up registration begins at 10 a.m. and the walk will start at noon.

Each year the students of the senior class must complete

senior project to graduate. The project must be designed to benefit the community in some way. This year Ashley Kio, Courtney and Kiley Walker have decided to raise money to help towards finding a cure for Breast Cancer. The three girls feel very strongly about this cause and invite you to help them in walking for a cure! All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.

The name of the walk is Project Pink". Walkers of all ages are welcome. There will be refreshments available and fun for all. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to start the walk. Breast Cancer Awareness Month starts Oct. 1. The girls feel this is a great way to kick off the month.

Each registered participant will also receive a Pledge Form to raise money by getting personal pledges prior to the walk. The first 50 people who register will receive an exclusive "Project pink" Tshirt which will be designed by the girls. Also for every person who hands in a pledge form with more than $50 in collected pledges will be entered into a drawing for some cool prizes.

Registration cost is $10 per person. For more information on how you can help "Project Pink" be a huge success you can email us at projectpink@zitomedia.net, or you can call the co advisor, Vera VanWhy at 814-6475412.
