The Cameron County 15-16 year old Senior Little League team advanced to the State Tournament for the first time ever with a win over Franklin Tuesday evening at the Cameron County Little League Complex. The Cameron County Little League hosted the section 2 tournament and what a show it was by the home team. The good news is that the State Tournament is held right here in their backyard and local fans will provide support like no other local all-star team has ever seen.
The All-stars finished the Section 2 tourney with a 3-1 record. The lone loss was a 2-1 setback Monday evening to the same team they beat to capture the pennant. With the 6-1 win over Franklin it marks the first time ever the seniors will play in the state tournament hosted by the Cameron County Little League.

Teams from Sharon, Meadville, Millcreek, New Bethlehm, Franklin and Cameron made up the section 2 brackets and only Sharon went home without a win.
Championship Game CC 6 Franklin 1
David Lyon started on the mound for Cameron County Tuesday and picked up the win with a gutsy performance. He had a blister the size of a dime on one of his fingers on his throwing hand but still pitched 51/3 innings before being relieved by Cameron Clingan who finished the Franklin team off. Clingan was pitching on 1 days rest after throwing over 200 pitches himself in his 10 inning masterpiece Sunday evening.
Franklin picked up a run in the bottom of the second inning after both teams were held scoreless in the first. Cameron County struck right back in their half of the third when Abram Zoschg hit the concession stand beyond the left field fence to tie the score 1-1.
The local squad added to the lead in the fourth after Sean McManigle doubled to left field. With two outs Cory Reed hit a blooper into short right field that the second baseman couldn't handle and McManigle was on his horse and raced home to give Cameron a 2-1 lead.
Meanwhile Lyon was keeping Franklin off the bases and keeping his mates in the game hoping the big inning at the plate would happen.
In the sixth inning the locals scored two more times. Reed once again had a great at bat and doubled into left field with the bases loaded for two RBI's that gave Cameron a 4-1 lead and sent the home town fans into a frenzy. The local fans that were gathered all over the little league complex and who were lined up 4 and 5 deep out beyond the center and right field fence began to chant "WE ARE...... CAMERON COUNTY".
The Cameron seventh proved to everyone that this team would not be denied. Singles by Garrett Hornung and Lyon put runners at the corners and after a wild pitch moved Lyon up to second Jordan Crane drove them both home with a single and gave them a 6-1 lead.
With the entire crowd from Emporium standing on their feet Clingan struck out the first two batters in the seventh. He was poised to end it with two strikes on the next batter but a blooper hit foul towards the fence on the right side beyond first base appeared to be out of first baseman Cranes reach. He was not going to disappoint and made a circus catch into the fence sending the entire Cameron squad into a pile in between pitchers mound and first base. High five's could be seen all over the ballpark as players and fans celebrated.
Lyon finished with seven strikeouts and gave up only two hits. Clingan struck out five of the six batters he faced giving up no hits.
To lead the Cameron stars at the plate Crane and Reed both had 2 RBI's and Zoschg added a homer.
Franklin 2 CC 1
Monday evening Franklin defeated the locals in eight innings on a bases loaded walk. Abram Zoschg pitched seven innings of two hit ball but the Cameron bats just went cold and couldn't get anything going all night.
CC 6 New Bethlehm 3 12 innings
Sunday evening Cameron and New Bethlehm played a 12 inning beauty. Clingan and the NB starter Cory Toth both pitched 10 innings and left the game with score knotted at 3.
Clingan struck out an unbelievable 19 batters and gave up seven walks but only four hits in his ten innings.
Cameron County scored three runs in the third inning on a homerun by Zoschg and an RBI single by Crane and an RBI double by Clingan.
NB scored three runs in their half of the fifth on a 2-run double by Toth mixed in with three singles.
Cameron scored 3 runs in the top of the 12th. Hornung led the inning off with a double and Lyon drove him home with a single to center that went through the center fielders legs. McManigle doubled to deep center field and that plated Lyon and Mike Baker singled home McManigle.
Lyon pitched in relief of Clingan and picked up the win. He struck out four NB hitters and walked two while allowing 1 hit.
CC 10 Meadville 3
Crane's pitching gem in the opener for Cameron on Saturday evening got the tourney rolling for the local stars. He struck out 11 hitters and walked six. He only gave up four hits and hit three batters.
Cameron was helped out by 10 errors from Meadville. The rain kept field conditions wet all night and Meadville wouldn't overcome the weather and the Cameron bats.
Crane helped himself at the plate with three RBI's on two singles and a double. Hornung also connected with two singles.
This weekend gets under way with opening ceremonies starting at 4 pm at the little league complex. The first game is scheduled to start at 5 pm. Hatboro will take on the section 1 winner that is yet to be determined at press time. At 8 pm Weston Park will take on Montoursville.
