Earl Hockenberry

Earl B. Hockenberry, 87, Rich Valley Road, Emporium died on Sunday, July 23, 2006 at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.

Born Feb. 11, 1919 in Beccaria Twp., PA., a son of the later Frederick and Mabel Lightner Hockenberry.

On May 16, 1944 in Richmond, Texas, he married Evelyn Fojtik Hockenberry, who survives.

Mr. Hockenberry served with the US Army Force, as a Staff Sgt., during WWII where he was an air plane mechanic. He was stationed in Foster Field in Victoria, TX. He and Gerald Lewis founded and co-owned Lewis and Hockenberry in Rich Valley. He retired in 1978. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and after he retired he spent most of his time gardening.

In addition to Evelyn Fojtik Hockenberry, he is survived by one son: Dariel Hockenberry (Cheryl) of Emporium and two grandchildren, Scott and Laura.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Mabel Lightner Hockenberry; Step Fathers, Blythe George and Phil King and a brother. David Hockenberry.

There will be no Visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service will be held today (Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006) at 11 a.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 East Fourth Street, Emporium where the Rev. Dwight Simpson, Pastor of Faith Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Rich Valley Cemetery, Emporium.
