Bugaj Retires Members of the Cameron County's School District's Board of Directors are searching for a superintendent, following the unexpected retirement of its current leader, Dr. Stephen Bugaj. Bugaj, who made the announcement at a committee meeting last week, will work his last day Aug. 28. In their regular session Thursday, board members voted to make Elementary Principal Clyde Moate the acting superintendent until one can be hired to take the job fulltime. Moate will receive a stipend while he served as superintendent. "Clyde cares about the school district," Board President Bob "Speedy" Lininger explained. "Our thinking was that it wouldn't be in our best interest to bring someone in and ay them all kinds of money with them knowing all along it was a short-term situation." The group is actively seeking candidates for the position, Lininger explained. Bugaj, who recently agreed to a five-year contract that paid him over $90,000 annually, took a position at Lock Haven University, not far from his State College home. Bugaj is also a lieutenant colonel in the Army National Guard, He had been with the school district four just under four years. |
