Adult Day Services Marks 1st Year
Community Nurses Adult Day Services marked its one year anniversary with a day of celebration at the 625 Maurus Street facility in St. Marys.
Adult Day guests Barney Rollick and Ives Harvey (pictured above), are two of the individuals who use the facility on a regular basis. Ives was the first guest to use the Adult Day program on its opening day one year ago. He was presented with a congratulatory card and a cake that was shared with the day guests and staff in attendance. Musical entertainment was provided by Fran DiIulio.
Adult Day Services offers a supervised, activity-oriented program for people 60 and older who have a physical or mental impairment or a person under the age of 60 with a diagnosis of Parkinson's or Dementia. Adult Day Services is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on holidays.
Days filled with educational, therapeutic and fun activities help remove the feelings of isolation that people often experience when they are confined to their home. Every month an activity calendar is planned based around the holidays and the interests of the clients being served. Nutritious meals are served and health issues are monitored by the Community Nurses professional staff members who oversee the program.
