Gary Yaras Gary Yaras, 57, of 967 Cowley Hill Rd., Austin, died at his residence, Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, following a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 30, 1948 in Pittsburgh, a son of Anthony Yaras and the late Irene Yaras. On Dec. 22, 1973 in Austin, he married Linda White Yaras, who survives. Mr. Yaras graduated from Cameron County High School in the class of 1967. He served with the US Navy aboard the USS Bon Homme Richards during the Vietnam Era. He had worked at the Pentagon under former Presidents Johnson and Nixon. He worked for the state of over 30 years, much of the time in the State Park Division and was a Forest Supervisor for DCNR. He was a member of the Emporium Moose Lodge #382 and the First Baptist Church in Emporium. In addition to his wife and father, Anthony Yaras, he is survived by a son, Christopher Yaras (Amy) of Groten, CT; a daughter, Elizabeth Meade of Rural Valley; four grandsons, Calvin and Reese Yaras and Bryan and Nicholas Meade; five sisters, Sandra Carey of Emporium, Cynthia (Thomas) Clark of Emporium, Irene (Donald) Hoffman of Howell, MI, Linda Yaras of Crosby, and Pamela (Rick) Copp of Emporium. Mr. Yaras was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Peckney Yaras. Funeral services were held at the Barnett Funeral Home in Emporium on Monday (Sept. 4). The Rev. R. Scott Melott, Pastor of First Baptist Church, officiated. A Military Service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. |
