Still Time To Apply For Pennsylvania Elk Licenses Hunters seeking to be included in the public drawing for a license to participate in Pennsylvania's elk hunts have until Friday, Sept. 15, to submit an application and $10 non-refundable fee via "The Outdoor Shop" on the Game Commission's website (pgc.state.pa.us). Deadline for paper applications has passed. Licenses will be awarded by public drawing at 5:00 p.m. on Sept. 23 at the Pennsylvania Elk Expo in Kersey. At the drawing, 40 licenses (15 antlered and 25 antlerless) will be awarded for the Nov. 6-11 elk season and another 10 licenses (2 either sex and 8 antlerless) for the elk season set Sept. 17-22, 2007. Individuals are not required to purchase a resident or nonresident general hunting license to apply for the drawing. The Sept. 23 drawing is computerized, now that the Game Commission uses a preference point system for awarding the licenses. Individuals who were not awarded an elk license in 2003, 2004 or 2005 have three preference points applied to this year's drawing, and will have their name entered into the drawing four times (three preference points plus the point for this year's application). |
