Boys' Team Notches Pair Of Wins

Cameron County's boys went up against some of the better talent in the Penn-York Golf League this week with mixed results.

On Thursday afternoon, Rich Farren and John Guisto came up with rounds of 47 and 48, respectively, but the Red Raiders fell victim to a solid Coudersport team on the Emporium links, 36 1/2 to 18 1/ 2.

Grant Vassallo (50), Jon Lundberg (51) and Nick Guisto (58) rounded out the CCHS scorers. Coudersport's Matt Jolley shot a dazzling medal round of 40.

Last Tuesday, Coach Tom Glosek's Raiders traveled to Smethport, where they easily took care of Otto-Eldred, 37- 18, but fell to the host Hubbers in a tight one, 29 1/2 to 25 1/ 2.

Cameron County's Josh Strahl and Smethport's Allen Funk tied for medal rounds at 42. Also for the Raiders, Vassallo fired a 48, followed by Nick Guisto (50), John Guisto (51), Farren (55) and Ryan Bainey (57).

Cameron County (3-3) returns to action on Monday

with a home match against Oswayo Valley, followed by a rematch with the Falcons in Coudersport on Wednesday. Then comes the Bradford Invitational next Saturday.
