Autumn Fest Nearing Sizerville State Park continues planning for its 16th annual Autumn Festival, set for noon until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7. The festival celebrates colonial skills and crafts that pioneer families used around the house and homestead. Park officials have put out a call for donations and volunteers as the event draws closer. Hands-on craft tables will include pumpkin painting, candle dipping, cornhusk dolls, pioneer games, apple cidering, candy making, tin punching and other activities, all at no charge. There will be exhibits on beading, maple syrup products, tatting, knitting, wood carving, crocheting and natural dyes. Smokey Bear will be making a guest appearance at 2:00, compliments of the Bureau of Forestry. Food vendors and musicians will also be on hand. Donations of pumpkins and gourds, candles and wax, and fresh apples would be appreciated. Volunteers are needed to help with some of the stations and other activities. Anyone interested in helping or learning more about this year's Autumn Festival can call (814) 486- 5605. | |||||
