Jr. High Raiders Improve to 2-0

Cameron County's success in junior high football is continuing this season. The Red Raiders (2-0) scored a gutsy 14-0 win at Smethport Thursday night, despite being outweighed at virtually every position.

With the field muddy and soggy, both teams went with their ground game. Smethport was able to move the ball, but the Raider defense dug in when it mattered.

The visitors cracked the ice late in the first quarter when Jason Blose found Kyle McManigle with a 28-yard TD toss. Blose kept the ball around left end for the PAT.

A fumble recovery by Mark Schweikart and an interception by Blose kept the hosts scoreless in the first half.

Late in the game, linebacker Brett Malize intercepted a pass and returned it 35 yards for an insurance touchdown.

Curwensville comes to Emporium to take on the Raiders Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
