Junior High Team Romps

Curwensville's Golden Tide became the latest victim of the red-hot Cameron County junior high football team.

The Raiders improved to 3-0 with a lopsided 34-8 win on the local gridiron Thursday.

Brett Malize's punt return set up a touchdown early in the game. Quarterback Jason Blose fired a 13-yard TD pass to Kyle McManigle. Blose swept left end on the PAT for an 8-0 lead.

Stalled by penalties in the second quarter, the Red Raiders caught a break when Andy Lippert intercepted a pass after the Tide threatened and returned it into Curwensville territory. Blose went back to pass, took off on a scramble, and scored 12 yards later with 0:00 showing on the clock. Malize bulled in for the two-point conversion.

Blose connected with McManigle on a 16-yard TD pass after the break.

Curwensville's offense found the going tough, as Ryan Reed, Bryce Frey, Malize and Andrew Fragale were very active from their linebacking posts, while Seth McFall made an alert fumble recovery. A perfectly executed halfback option pass from McManigle to Lippert covered 14 yards for another TD. Malize ended the third quarter with an 86-yard touchdown sprint to close out the Raider scoring at 34.

They return to action at 6:00 Thursday night in Coudersport.
