More Than 30 Local Students Gather To Pray

When a group of Cameron County High School students decided to organize -- outside of the school setting -- a local observance of the national "See You at the Pole" prayer event, they anticipated about a dozen young people would participate.

Imagine their delight when more than 30 students arose early on Wednesday and reported to the flagpole outside of the high school to pray.

Student organizer Alex Davis, a senior at CCHS, described the turnout as "great," and expressed hope that the event will continue to grow.

Participating students first sang songs, then joined hands in a wide circle around the flagpole and prayed.

Youth Pastor Jason Snyder from the Emporium Christian and Missionary Alliance Church assisted the students as they joined thousands of students across the nation in seeking God's guidance and demonstrating their faith.

Davis said he hopes to organize, or participate in, a similar event next year when he's a college freshman.
