This was the scene Thursday afternoon, moments after a frightening collision involving a tractor-trailer and SUV at the Four Mile Road intersection with Rt. 155, north of Emporium. Police said Pamela Irwin, 35, pulled her Chevrolet Trailblazer from Four Mile Road into the path of a northbound rig being driven by Kevin Kemp of Eden, N.Y., at about 3:15. Kemp was able to swerve his vehicle in time to avoid direct impact. A four-year-old boy riding in Trailblazer escaped injury. Irwin was taken to Elk Regional Medical Center by Emporium Ambulance for treatment of moderate injuries and released later in the day. Kemp suffered minor injuries. All three individuals were wearing seat belts.
