'Doe' Licenses All But Gone

All but a handful of the Pa. Game Commission's 22 Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) have sold out of antlerless deer licenses. Licenses in Area 2G, which includes all of Cameron County, were sold out soon after applications were accepted.

Hunters may still apply for Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) coupons available for antlerless deer hunting opportunities. DMAP permits may be used only on the specific property for which they are issued.

DMAP was developed to help landowners use hunting pressure to reduce deer populations on certain private properties. Hunters must mail DMAP coupons to the address listed on the coupon to receive their permits. Maps are provided by the landowners or, in the case of state-owned land, by the Bureau of Forestry.

The Game Commission's website has more information on DMAP (www.pgc.state.pa.us).
