Pink Ribbon' event set

The annual Pink Ribbon 5K Walk/Run to promote breast cancer awareness will be held on Sunday at the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital Wellness Center.

Race Coordinator Michelle Burdick says this event focuses attention on the battle being waged against breast cancer by area women and the importance of self-examination, mammograms and clinical breast exams in the early detection.

Proceeds will help defray the cost of mammograms for women without health insurance.

It begins with a free "fun run" for children 10 and under at 1:30. Walkers step off at 1:45 p.m. and runners at 2:00 p.m. There are awards to the first three finishers in each category.

Participants may register on the day of the race.
