 | | Volunteers from the Emporium Senior Center pitched in to support the "Letters From Home" project, a regional outreach to military personnel stationed overseas. This was a true labor of love for the local seniors. Among those helped out by donating items or helping were (clockwise from back, far left) Grace Scott, Jean Streich, Angie Colletti, Ral Grippo, Martha Morse, Ruth Engle, Char Zuback, Mar Munsell, and Alice Hayes. Under the watchful eye and capable hands of Linda Lucas, who creates many craft items for the project, the volunteers made small cloth bags and filled them with gifts. More items are needed and the public is encouraged to help out by donating drink mixes, soup mixes, cards, puzzles, DVDs, socks, CDs or money to offset shipping costs. Items may be brought to the Emporium Senior Center. Volunteers are needed for the next packing session on Nov. 19, starting at 12:30 p.m. For more information, call 486-3707. |
