Vo-Tech teachers still without new contract Teachers at the Seneca Highlands Area Vocational- Technical School in Port Allegany have been working without a contract since their previous pact expired June 30. Intermediate Unit Nine directors met privately this week to try and move negotiations forward. The 10 instructors, represented by a labor union, continue to work under terms of the old contract. IU9 Executive Director Dan Wetzel confirmed that a state mediator will attend the next bargaining session on Nov. 1. Wetzel added that the two sides are apparently close to breaking the impasse and settling on a contract, with terms retroactive to June 30. Students from Cameron County, Smethport, Port Allegany, Coudersport and five other school districts attend the Vo-Tech School. |
