Turkey hunters asked to report banded birds Successful turkey hunters who notice a metal band on their birds are asked to contact the Pa. Game Commission. As part of a study, more than 300 turkeys are being captured and banded annually in Pennsylvania. Gobblers have a riveted leg band on one leg and a standard aluminum leg band on the other. Each is imprinted with a code, as well as a tollfree telephone number. Study focuses on survival rates, travel patterns and the impact of the spring turkey season on the age-structure of the male population. |
