Matthew McDonald

E5 Matthew McDonald was recently presented the Air Medal by the U.S. Navy, for outstanding service during deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

McDonald is the grandson of Howard and Shirley McDonald, Emporium, and the son of Mrs. and Mrs. David McDonald of Dallas, Ga.

As a member of Naval Patrol Squadron 26, McDonald participated in aerial operations over Iraq. An electronic technician, he is based at the Brunswick (Maine) Naval Air Station.

"The Air Medal is bestowed upon only the most deserving sailors and is a testament to their dedication and hard work," said Patrol Squadron 26 Commanding Officer G. J. Cozad. "Matthew McDonald plays a key role on our team and helps ensure we stand ready for any mission."

Officer McDonald, his wife and two children reside in Brunswick.
