CAHS students compete in scholastic scrimmage
Five Coudersport Area School District students this week traveled to State College to participate in the popular "Scholastic Scrimmage" competition.
A project of Penn State Public Broadcasting, the academic elimination series airs on WPSX-TV, Channel 3 locally. It's a fast-paced quiz show during which students from more than 80 high schools compete in a showcase of knowledge, recall and reflexes.
The Coudersport vs. Glendale episode will debut at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18.
Seniors Josh Knauer, Hope Morris and Anna Fry
joined an underclassman, Joe Bartholemew, representing Coudersport. Junior Sarah Bunch was the alternate.
Their advisor, science and mathematics teacher Pat Keener, said the team was assembled based on recommendations of a faculty committee.
"Our goal was to have a well-rounded panel with students who had particular strengths in specific subject matters, such as science or literature," Keener said.
Schools with the highest scores in the first round of Scholastic Scrimmage will return for a championship round.
