Despite cold and windy conditions on Sunday, the ninth annual Marian J. Wettrick Pink Ribbon 5K Run/Walk drew a field of more than 100 runners and walkers. The course begins and ends at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital Wellness Center. The event is organized by the Women's Health Department at Cole to raise money to help women without insurance afford mammograms. Steve Kibbe and Christie Keglovits were the winning runners. Mitch Freeman and Tracy Haskins were first-place walkers. The race honors the late Marian J. Wettrick, a physical education teacher and basketball coach at Coudersport High School who later served in the Governor's Office on Alcohol Abuse. In her will, Miss Wettrick left a large sum of money to launch the Women's Health Department at Cole. | | Photo by Paul Burdick |
