Coudersport lone NTL volleyball survivor Coudersport was the lone survivor among local high school volleyball teams competing in the PIAA District 9 playoff openers Tuesday night. Coach Greg Stone's Falcons (16-2) put away visiting Otto- Eldred in three games to earn a D9 quarterfinal berth at Clarion-Limestone Thursday. Those results weren't available by press time. Sabrina Hershey had 12 digs, three kills and 11 service points with three aces against Otto- Eldred. Jessica Wilson continued her strong net play with 12 kills to go with 17 digs and eight points. Karli Duffee dished out 15 assists. Brooke Campbell had seven blocks and six digs, while Brianna Vought had five kills and eight points with a pair of aces. "We were able to hit the ball effectively and transition well from defense to offense," Stone said after his Falcons swept to 25-6, 25-11 and 25-16 wins. Northern Potter's season and its 12-match win streak ended at the hands of Cranberry in three games, 26-24, 25-20 and 25-11. Brittany Rounds had seven kills, 21 digs, a pair of blocks and seven points for the Panthers. In other playoff action, Austin lost a tough match with Elk County Catholic, as the Crusaders claimed the tie-breaker, 15-8. Oswayo Valley was eliminated in four games by Redbank Valley. |
