Giannotti wins D9 Championship

Young Emily Giannotti of Coudersport claimed the PIAA District 9 cross country championship by a wide margin Saturday in Ridgway, earning a berth in the state finals today in Hershey. Giannotti, a freshman, glided

over the Ridgway course in 20 minutes, 54 seconds, almost a full minute ahead of the first runner-up.

She closed out the regular season with first place finishes in every dual meet and placed no lower than second in multischool competition.

Joining Giannotti in Hershey today are Oswayo Valley's trio of Erin Taylor, Kyle Harvey and Orion Bernard, each of whom was a top 10 finisher at Ridgway.
