Oswayo Valley grad Ali Mertsock made a name for herself as a cross country runner at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Mertsock, a freshman, had the fastest time among all collegiate runners in the recent Houghton (N.Y.) Fall Classic and took fifth overall.

Two other Oswayo Valley alumni, Cody Bachand and Kara Karr, were also on the Pitt-Bradford team, which closed out its season last week in the AMCC Championship meet at Lake Erie College.

Keagle takes plunge. Coudersport's Nick Keagle has returned for his junior year as a member of the swim team at Westminster College. The son of Chris and Becky Keagle, Nick is a business administration major.

He's competing in breaststroke and individual medley. First regular season competition is Nov. 11 at Allegheny College.
