Martha Edgar

Martha Anne Edgar Berry, 87, of Valley Center, Kansas, died on Nov. 8, 2006.

She was born to Charles Henry and Kathryn Elizabeth McDivitt Edgar on April 15, 1919 in Emporium, the seventh of nine children.

On April 30, 1938, in Emporium she married William Edwin Berry.

Among her greatest joys in life were her family, traveling, sewing, housework, along with sharing and caring for others.

Survivors include three daughters, Donna Artzer, Fort Worth, TX; Sandra Lewis Kitchen, Valley Center, KS with whom she made her home in 1999 and Darla, Los Alamos, NM; one son, William (Bill) Edwin Berry, Lawson, CO; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; two nieces and four nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband; daughter; Bonnie Berry Morse Bartles; three grandsons; four brothers; Albert, James, Thomas, and Jesse, who was killed in WWII; and four sisters; Carolyn, Lena, Sara and Minnie.

Mrs. Berry attended school in Emporium until 1933, when she moved to Bloomsburg. There, she worked for her room and board while finishing high school.

Friends will be received Friday, Nov. 17, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Emporium, Pastor Mark Conklin officiating, on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Gardeau Cemetery.
