Residents Getting Energy Assistance
Colder weather has more Potter and Cameron County

residents seeking help to pay for insulation and other "weatherization" work to cut their energy consumption.

Weatherization Program Director Kevin Genevro from Northern Tier Community Action Corp. said his organization is reaching out to eligible residents, offering air sealing and insulation, repair or replacement of furnaces and windows, and other work.

Weatherization can cut energy consumption by about 25 percent. completed on houses, apartments or mobile homes. In addition to the physical work, Northern Tier educates the consumer on conserving energy.

The director points out that the program is not just for property owners. Renters who are looking to cut their heating bills can also receive weatherization services.

To qualify, residents must fall within these income limits: one-person household, $14,700; two, $19,800; three, $24,900; four, $30,000; five, $35,100; six, $40,200; for each additional household member, add $5,100.
