Project helps underprivileged

Coudersport High School Principal Alanna Huck (right) presented a donation to Christmas House's Barb Heimel last week, in support of that organization's holiday giving campaign.
Teachers, staffers and students at Coudersport Area High School are reaching out to help some of the community's underprivileged with a fund-raising project to complement the local Holiday Food Drive.

With proceeds from "dress-down days" and through other donations, the school raised money that was presented last week to Christmas House and the Community Food Bank.

Those same two organizations are also receiving shipments of canned goods and other donations through a food drive being conducted by Time Warner Cable and the local school.

The public is encouraged to support the campaign from now through Dec. 15 by dropping off food items at the Time Warner School Building, on North Main Street, and the Coudersport High School lobby.

The following items are especially needed: infant formula, peanut butter, canned tuna, canned chicken, canned beef stews, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned and boxed juices, rice and rice mixes, cold cereals, infant cereals, flour, baby food and canned soups. Cash donations will help

both Christmas House and Coudersport Food Bank purchase turkeys and other items to be delivered to needy families during the holiday season. One hundred percent of the money donated will go directly to the underprivileged.

Those donations should be dropped off at the Time Warner School Building (reception desk), with checks made out to either Christmas House or Coudersport Food Bank. For additional information, please contact Lorraine Yarborough at 274- 6992, or Alanna Huck at 274- 8500.
