Community ed classes lined up Tourism management certificate offered Penn Highlands Community College will be offering classes in tourism management at locations in Coudersport and St. Marys. The courses are being held in cooperation with the Potter County Education Council and the Community Education Council of Elk and Cameron Counties. Classes will be held in Coudersport or St. Marys, with real-time teleconferencing available between the two sites. The Certificate in Tourism Management is being designed to prepare students for the career opportunities in this region's growing heritage tourism industry. Students can enroll in individual courses such as Principles of Marketing, Introduction to Accounting, and Introduction to Tourism and Travel. Classes are expected to begin in March. Learn how to quilt Quilters Heaven in Coudersport is offering a machine applique class next Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Instructor Mim Cornish reports that the quilting technique is easy to learn. Students will use a fusible bond and a satin stitch to create a 36" by 36" wall hanging featuring several leaf appliques finished out in a modified log cabin design. Medical transcription classes in Coudersport University of Pittsburgh will be providing evening medical transcription certification classes in Coudersport next year, according to an announcement by the Potter County Education Council. The need for medical transcriptionists is rapidly growing due to an aging population and an increase in procedures. These classes will be offered: will Sequence of courses: Medical Terminology (30 hours), Anatomy & Physiology (30 hours), Microsoft Word & Keyboarding (24 hours), Medical Transcription (60 hours).
