'Click it or Ticket' enforcement on State Police are participating in the national "Click it or Ticket" campaign today from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. They'll offer free child safety seat inspections in an effort to keep Pennsylvania highways safe during the holiday weekend. At the request of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Buckle Up Pennsylvania, Pa. State Police are a part of "Click it or Ticket" campaign. If a driver is stopped for a traffic violation and anyone in the vehicle is not properly restrained, the driver will get two citations instead of one. Today's free child safety seat inspections are also part of "Click it or Ticket." State Police are also participating in "Operation CARE." It stands for Combined Accident Reduction Effort. During last year's Thanksgiving driving period, 13 people were killed and 503 others were injured in 1,738 crashes investigated by state police. Six of those killed were not wearing seat belts and two of the fatalities were alcohol related. Of the total number of crashes , 90 were alcoholrelated. During the same period, troopers issued 4,453 speeding citations and arrested 290 motorists for driving under the influence. |
