Edward Nolder

Edward V. Nolder, 80, of North Street, Port Allegany, died Saturday (Nov. 18, 2006) at his home after a lengthy illness.

Born March 5, 1926, in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of William J. and Elizabeth A. Jobe Nolder. On August 25, 1951, in Roulette, he married Agnes L. Caulkins, who survives.

Mr. Nolder was a 1943 graduate of the Olean High School. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic, Pacific and Philippine theatres. He worked for Pittsburgh Corning Co., Port Allegany, in the maintenance department, retiring in 1984 after 30 years of service.

He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Olean. He was a life member of the Roulette Fire Department, a member of the Smethport Country Club and its Couples League, Roulette Ambulance and a former EMT, Roulette Alumni Association, Roulette Fish and Game Club and the Samson's Naval Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Edward L. Nolder of Emporium and Douglas E. Nolder of Roulette; six granddaughters and one grandson; a brother, Arthur J. Nolder of Allegany, N.Y.; a grandniece, Lynnette J. Falkenstein of Burlington, N.J., who was raised by the Nolders; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Funeral services were held Tuesday (Nov. 21) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, with the Rev. H. D. Youngblood Jr. officiating. Burial was in Fishing Creek Cemetery, Roulette.

A military service was conducted following the funeral service.
