GOP had it coming To The Editor: As a lifelong Republican with conservative convictions, I think that losing Congress to the Democrats was not only inevitable but necessary. The American people will no longer stand for incompetence, negligence and misrepresentation of the facts. People are tired of the government taking their hardearned money to pay for defunct and failed policies in the name of national security. Important issues tear at the very fabric of our democracy, yet our past Congress was more concerned about millionaire baseball players taking steroids or how much money Microsoft made last year. Don't be fooled into thinking Republicans lost this election over a referendum on the war on terrorism. It was about an entrenched and misguided standard to shirk their duty and give a free pass to mismanagement, abuse and incompetence. Therefore, this conservative American voted accordingly and chose freely not to retain skirkers and deceivers. In essence, those who have failed to uphold their obligation to the Constitution have failed the American people. Now, they are gone, thanks to the power of the people over our government. J. W.
