Lyme Disease story hit home

To the editor:

Thank you for your recent article on Lyme disease.

Raising awareness is vital in this area where, every day, we experience the beauty of nature up close.

Disease-carrying ticks are just part of the package.

If it were not for Dr. Ronnie Schenkein diagnosing my dogs with Lyme, my own diagnosis may have taken longer than it did.

Thanks to her, they were my canaries in a coal mine.
