Dr. Francisco Villa

Francisco Broce Villa, MD, died Dec. 4, 2006. He was born Sept. 17, 1934 in San Carlos City, Philippines, and moved to the U.S. in the mid- 1960s. He was formerly a resident of Coudersport and Emporium and most recently a resident of Port Allegany.

Dr. Villa graduated from Manila Central University in 1960 and Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1965. He was a prominent family practitioner and pediatrician who was also board- certified in Emergency and Bariatric Medicine. Dr. Villa served the residents of Potter, Cameron and McKean counties for more than 25 years prior to his retirement in the 1990s.

After his retirement, Dr. Villa founded the Allegheny Mountain Carvers Assn. and spent many hours of enjoyment with friends carving.

Dr. Villa is survived by his wife, Darlene Wright-Villa of Port Allegany; his two brothers, Rudolpho and Augusto, both living in the Philippines; his children Ben (Brenda) Villa of Eldred; Chris Villa (Stafford) Barton of Hewitt, N.J.; Donell (Joe) Villa Ayers of Coudersport; and Elizabeth Wright-Villa of Port Allegany, as well as nine grandchildren and numerous other friends and relatives.

Dr. Villa was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Mariano Villa; his son, Alfred Villa; his granddaughter, Alysa Barton; and six siblings who died in childhood.

A funeral mass will be held today (Saturday, Dec. 9) at St. Eulalia Roman Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. in Coudersport.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Port Area Ambulance Service.
