Channel 9 featuring basketball

Zito Media will bring high school basketball coverag to local cable TV this season, with an ambitious broadcast schedule that kicks off this Sunday night.

Zito will present a broadcast of Saturday night's championship game from the Citizens Trust Classic girls' basketball tournament Sunday at 7:00 p.m. The tournament, which runs Friday and Saturday nights, includes teams from Coudersport, St. Marys, DuBois and Wellsville.

Under a cooperative arrangement with Radio Station WFRM, the video coverage will include play-by-play audio from the radio station's veteran team of Ed Easton, Paul Heimel and Paul Gaines.

"High school sports are very popular in our area, and we're anxious to increase the variety of local programming for our customers," said Devin Staigerk, Advertising Manager at Zito Media.

The games will air on Channel 9 on cable in the Coudersport, Emporium and Port Allegany areas. Most of the broadcasts are slotted for Saturday morning.

After this weekend's debut, Zito Media plans to air the Dec. 22 Portville vs. Coudersport boys' basketball game the following morning at 10:00.
