Galeton pulls away from Austin boys Lack of numbers is catching up to the boys’ basketball team at Austin High School in the early season. It showed on Monday night, as Galeton broke open a close game after the halftime break to beat the Panthers, 65-46, dropping Austin to 0-3. “We played well in the first half, but in the second half we seemed to wear down a bit and they took advantage,” said Austin coach Scott Easton. Tim Cheplic scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Josh Bundy scored 10 points for the Panthers. Easton’s squad opened the season with two gutsy efforts at the East Forest Tip-Off Tournament in Marienville. Adam Walker hit four threepointers and Max Smith had 11 rebounds in the Panthers’ 54- 45 loss on Friday. Claysburg- Kimmel beat Austin 53-44 in the consolation game, despite Cheplic’s 15 points. |
