CCHS boys even at 1-1

Underclassmen Jordan Crane and Dan Sullivan combined for 40 points to lead Cameron County to a 51-41 basketball win at A-C Valley Monday night.

The Red Raiders will carry a 1-1 record into Wednesday night’s home game with Punxsutawney. They’ll also be home on Friday night against Galeton.

Crane, a junior, hit for 20 points while Sullivan, a sophomore, contributed 17 in Monday’s win. Those two and junior Ethan Purcell were a combined 13 of 16 from the foul line.

In the season opener, Sullivan canned four threepointers on his way to a teamhigh 20 points, but visiting

Johnsonburg pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 69-47 win. Crane also had a trey as part of his 11 points.

First-year head coach John Barnhart, who previously coached at Lebanon High School, fields a young squad this season. Jason Sestina, a 6- 5 center who plays a key role as a rebounder and defensive force, is the lone senior on the roster. Junior Charlie Holjencin and sophomores Mike Malizia and Jarek Holjencin, also return with varsity experience.

Juniors Steve Reed and Pat Hornung, along with sophomores Andrew Kesterholt, Jon Lundberg and Jordan Garrigan, round out the varsity roster.

Randy Cooney returns as assistant coach and JV coach.
