Genealogy website will assist ancestry buffs

Ancestry buffs and others now have another method of tracking down information on their relatives, thanks to the new Cameron County Genealogy Club website.

The club, which began three years ago, always has been committed to linking family tree enthusiasts through monthly meetings and e-mail lists. That mission is made easier through the Internet.

As a graduation project, Cameron County High School senior Alex Davis built the website using Google Pages, working on layout, writing, design and picture uploading. He tapped professional website designer Anne Mulhollan of RSA Systems Inc. in Ohio, who has ties to Cameron County and is a member of the Genealogy Club.

The result of their teamwork was a shorter web address at no cost, in return for a plug for her two websites on the genealogy web page.

Records from the past three years, news articles and a history of the club are featured on the website, which will be regularly updated.

The site can be accessed at www.cameroncountygenealogy.org.
