Home opener for CC wrestlers Friday

Five members of the Cameron County High School wrestling team breezed through the rugged Warren Invitational Tournament with 5-0 records Saturday.
Senior Chad Schatz led the way, pinning all five of his 275- lb. foes, four of them in less than a minute.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, freshman Dom Manginell made an impressive varsity debut, with an undefeated start at 112.
Two other underclassmen, junior Taylor Songer (145) and sophomore Mike Baker (160), were also 5-0.
Sophomore Randy Schatz went 4-1 at 140, while juniors Marcus Mullens (171) and Connor McCurley (215) were each 3-2.
Freshman Tyler Bidwell started his varsity career with a 2-3 mark at 119. Bryce Frey, also a freshman, notched a win at 135 and junior Darrick Mason had a win at 189. Senior Cody Andrus won an exhibition match at 275.
The Red Raiders scored a 51- 24 win over Bradford and were edged 42-39 by Seneca. Other losses came to Southwestern (45-27), Warren (45-33) and Youngsville (48-21).
Cameron County had a rematch with Bradford Thursday night. Results weren’t available by press time. They’ll be back in action with the home opener next Friday against St. Marys.
