Helen Decker

Helen J. Decker, 76, of Emporium, formerly of Weatherly and Seneca Falls, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, in DuBois Regional Medical Center.

Born May 8, 1930 in Weatherly, she was the daughter of Roy A. and Edith Woodring Barrington. On Aug. 18, 1950, in Hazelton she married John J. Decker who died March 15, 1986, in Seneca Falls.

Originally from Weatherly, Mrs. Decker was a resident of Emporium from 1967 to 1979, and Seneca Falls from 1979 to 1986, when she returned to Emporium.

While in Emporium she was employed by several local businesses including Phil’s Shoe Store, Sylvia’s Dress Shop and Judy’s Fashions.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Emporium and served a threeyear term on the board of directors of the American Cancer Society, Cameron County Unit.

She is survived by one son, John (Larry) Decker of Pensacola, Fla.; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Sharon) DeCarli of St. Marys; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Decker was predeceased by one brother, Charles E. Barrington in 1995, and a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Mace in 2004.

The funeral service was at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jay Hanson officiating. A committal service was held in the Salem United Church of Christ, Weatherly, with the Rev. Barry Harbach officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Weatherly.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 205 East Fourth St., Emporium or the American Cancer Society, Cameron County Unit.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium.
