Buckler local industry rep at economic development summit

David Buckler of Coudersport, who operates Buckler Transport in Roulette, was among local industry representatives participating in the “Leadership McKean” economic development summit in Bradford.

Buckler joined Dr. Livingston Alexander, president of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, as well as highway advocate Chris Hauser and McKean County Commissioner John Egbert on a panel charged with building a marketing plan.

Under the scenario, a fictitious company was interested in relocating and expanding its operations. The group on which Buckler served built a case for the company to locate in northcentral Pennsylvania.

Infrastructure, tax policies, economic conditions and quality of life were the main selling points.

Leadership McKean is a leadership development program designed to build informed and involved community leaders through networking and educational programs.

Last month’s meeting included presentations by Tom Frungillo, director of Bradford Regional Airport, as well as

officials from Bradford Regional Medical Center and the Allegheny National Forest Vacation Bureau.

Additional information on Leadership McKean is available from Kate Moody, Outreach Services, University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
