David Woods reeled in a whopping 32-inch trout, weighing 11 1/4 pounds, from the East Branch of the Clarion River near Glen Hazel. “I had a minnow on one line on the river edge, and I held another pole working a nightcrawler through the faster water,” Woods said. “I was shocked to see this Godzilla-league trout swimming near the surface of the river with my minnow line in his mouth.” Realizing the whopper could easily snap his eight-poundtest line, Woods took it easy with the big fish until it tired. “He probably got washed out of the lake as they lowered the water to winter pool, and made his home in the chilly river,” he speculated.
