NTL girls' teams look ahead to playoffs
      With just two weeks left in the regular season, several teams in the Northern Tier Girls' Basketball League are looking ahead to the PIAA District 9 playoffs. D9 has an open format, so any school can enter, regardless of record. Coudersport, Austin, Northern Potter and Smethport (13-6) are likely to get in.

Falcon wrestlers off until Thursday
      Coudersport returns from a nine-day break with a high school wrestling match at Cameron County on Thursday, with junior high action at 6:00 p.m. and varsity to follow. There was less than 20 minutes of mat action Tuesday night as the shorthanded Falcons fell to visiting St. Marys Public, 78-5. Coudersport's lone win was freshman Dirk Cowburn's technical fall over Jon Carr at 140.

CCHS wrestlers off to Bucktail Tournament
      Cameron County's wrestlers spent more time in the bus than they did on the mat Tuesday night, coming away from Sheffield with a 64-6 win that was shortened to six bouts lasting less than 20 minutes. Randy Schatz got things going for the Red Raiders with a 10-2 decision over Larry Heeter at 145. Mike Baker had a pin in 62 seconds at 171. Matt Burke dropped his opponent in just 25 seconds at 215.

Cameron County, Coudersport showdown Monday
      One of the biggest boys' basketball games in a long time takes place on Monday night, when the Cameron County Red Raiders travel to Coudersport in a critical battle. A Falcon win pretty much wraps up the Northern Tier League title, while a Raider upset would force a tie atop the standings.

Solveson tries out with Milwaukee Brewers
      Cameron County's contribution to professional baseball, Saul Solveson, has been getting in some early-season throwing at the local high school gym while he awaits word on his fate for the 2007 season.

      There are some changes this week in the rankings of Class A basketball teams in PIAA District 9. DuBois CC is now atop the boys' rankings, replacing Elk CC (No. 2). Coudersport is fourth; Cameron County, seventh.
