CCHS releases honor roll
      Cameron County Area High School has announced its honor roll for the second marking period of the 2006-07 school year. High Honors Grade 7- Blake Burfield, Marina Keiter, Shelby Umbenhauer, Tylar Younkin and Kayla Zoschg. Grade 8- Joseph Holjencin.

Fair Association to meet Feb. 19
      Cameron County Fair Association will hold its next meeting at 7:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at Memorial Hall. Among the topics on the agenda will be planning for the 2007 county fair and a review of the results from the association's annual Parade of Stars, scheduled for Feb. 17.

Couchman graduates from Millersville
      Jeanne Couchman, daughter of Kevin and Nancy Couchman, was awarded a bachelor of arts degree from Millersville University. She majored in art with a concentration in graphic design and a minor in graphic communication technology. She also graduated from the University Honors College with the achievement of cum laude.

Parade Of Stars Feb. 17
      Performers are lined up for the annual "Parade of Stars," a night of entertainment in Emporium that showcases local talent while raising funds for the Cameron County Fair Assn. Scholarship Fund. This year's show, scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb.

Blood drive next week
      Area residents have the chance to donate blood when the American Red Cross bloodmobile visits Emporium and St. Marys next week. Area blood supplies have dipped since late December. Blood is needed for surgical patients, accident victims, cancer cases and others in the region.

Christian Center plans video series
      Beginning Tuesday evening, Feb. 13, Cameron County Christian Center in Emporium will present a video series on the Ten Commandments. Showings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. "The neglect of the Ten Commandments is seen by many as contributing to a moral breakdown today," said the Rev. Rock Pifer.

      On Feb. 2, the Miller-Raffaele Post 6221 VFW held its annual dues payers dinner. Forty-three members attended. A special ceremony was held for POW and MIAs with a table set with an empty upside glass for the comrades who could not be there. A toast was given for the brothers who could not raise their glass.

      Ryan Dunmeyer from Clyde Peeling's Reptileland of Allenwood fascinated the students at Emporium's Woodland Elementary School on Thursday. He brought a menagerie to Cameron County as part of a public education mission that dates back decades.

ACS slates snowtubing fund-raiser
      The American Cancer Society is sponsoring a fund-raiser on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Ski Denton. Tickets are $5.00 per person for an evening of snowtubing, from 5:30 to 8:30. Tickets may be purchased from Relay For Life team members or at Ski Denton. Proceeds will support the chapter's 2007 Relay For Life, which will be held June 15-16 at Coudersport Area Recreation Park.
