As Jimmy Buffett laments in in the song in which he coined the phrase "we are the people our parents warned us about," sometimes I wish I could go back to the days "before I knew what cash flow meant." But, that's not the path I've chosen, as I've been reminded so many times in so many ways lately. More ... On the Thursday before Easter, my wife and I headed toward Dallas, Ga. As soon as we hit Interstate 80, we hit all kinds of snow showers. It got to the point where you could hardly see the road. We could have turned back, but we wanted to see our grandkids and our son too bad to turn around. More ... Over the last week or so, there has been much controversy over having ALS (Advanced Life Support) based in Cameron County for our citizens. Since moving back to Cameron County several years ago, one of the huge areas of need I noted was rapid medical response of advanced care in the emergency setting for the sick and injured. More ... It was great to see so many out at the Ski Denton Lodge for our Songwriters Roundtable kick-off on a tough weekend. And what a kick-off it was! Thanks to all for your support. Now it's time to prepare for the Saturday night, May 5, show right back at Ski Denton. It runs from 7:00 to 10:00. Those people who are in Coudersport for the Maple Festival should consider joining us. More ... Something is missing in my life, and in the lives of those around me. That something is community. We live in a day when people don't even know their neighbors' names. To be honest, I don't know all of my neighbors' names. We get distracted sometimes by our own agendas and it keeps us from really living in community. More ... |
